EX- PATRIA

The term EX-PATRIA comes from the Latin terms ex ("out of") and patria ("country, fatherland").  Expatriates are persons temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than their own. In this collection of work, these internationally known artists had to leave their country and are speaking out against the events of the last 12 years, culminating in February 2014, when the student-led protests in Venezuela, took on a deadly and nefarious turn.

Elena De La Ville curates this exhibit of edgy work by four contemporary Latin American artists. Opens March 19, 5-7 p.m. Continues through April 24 at Art Center Sarasota, 707 N. Tamiami Tr., Sarasota. 365-20
